Improving reliability by eliminating one of the most vulnerable components in a pump:
the mechanical shaft seal.

In chemical, petrochemical and other demanding process industries, pump leakage or unexpected downtime can have serious consequences.
For this reason, more OEM pump manufacturers are developing sealless pump systems based on magnetic drive technology.

A magnetic coupling transfers torque contactlessly through a containment shell. Because there is no physical connection between the drive and pump side, the mechanical shaft seal can be eliminated completely.

The result is a hermetically sealed pump design with fewer wear components, lower maintenance requirements and increased operational reliability.

But designing an effective magnetic coupling requires more than selecting powerful magnets.

Torque, rotational speed, temperature, air gap, containment shell material and available installation space all influence magnetic performance.

At Bakker Magnetics, our engineers work together with OEM pump manufacturers from the early design phase. Using magnetic calculations and FEA simulations, we optimize the magnetic system before moving to prototypes, validation and serial production.

The objective is simple:
Maximum magnetic performance, reliably integrated into the pump design.
